Handwork in the Smokies

For our fourth year, once again, we bring you back to handwork at its best! Our seminar will be held at the Talley-Ho Inn in Townsend, TN. Townsend is located on the "Peaceful Side of the Smokies" just 30 minutes (20 miles) from the Knoxville airport.

Surrounded by the beauty of the Smoky Mountains, you'll be inspired to quilt as you never have before. The Talley Ho Inn is located beside the Heritage Museum, just a few minutes from the entrance to the Great Smoky National Park. Come early and visit Cades Cove. Bring your camera to capture the abundant wildlife and scenic views.

Once the seminar begins, every detail will be taken care of. You will be delighted with everything we have planned for you. This year we are offering an optional start time for those that want to come in early and start stamping! Cindy will use this time to instruct any beginner hand piecers or anyone wishing to improve their skills.

Cindy will also be lecturing on Wednesday evening on hand quilting and showing from start to finish how to layer, baste and quilt your top. After the lecture, students will work on their own sample project to practice.

"Smoky Mountain Stars" Who can resist the beautiful feathered star? This year's quilt boasts 12 scrappy feathered star blocks. Make one or make a dozen, the choice is yours. You will be taught how to make spectacular hand pieced precision points You will be given an exclusive feathered star set of template stamps to complete those blocks flawlessly. Smoky Mountain Stars will become an heirloom with the addition of the hand embroidered border.

The Talley Ho Inn is located at 8314 State Highway 73 in Townsend, TN. We have blocked rooms at the special discount rate of $59.00 per night ($91 per night October seminar). The Carriage House restaurant adjoins the inn. All visitors will receive a 10% discount on their meals when staying at the Talley Ho. This restaurant is moderately priced and has a wide range of meals.

Registration will be on a first come, first served basis and is limited to twenty-four students. Your payment in full will hold your spot. You will be responsible for your travel arrangements, hotel and meals.
